Classic Coach Tours are pure nostalgia. They are a unique blend of coach travel from a bygone era. Travelling at a sedate yet respectable pace in a treasured period vintage coach. Selected quality hotels with ’ Character’ are chosen and the itinerary carries a historic but varied transport theme.
Famous landmarks and great engineering feats are viewed from your seat on the coach. Museums are visited, steam train rides are offered. Canal, lake or loch cruises on boats and vintage steamers are often to be found in our itineraries. (And f or those who wish it technical information is available). But there is respite from an over indulgence in transport as free time for ’refreshments’ and shopping is to be found.
The coaches date from the 1950’s through to 1975. These have given service in original form to my parents’ company before thorough refurbishment. Returning to work in the 21st century as front line members of our ‘heritage fleet’. Two of the coaches (The Seddon and The Beadle) have been owned for 47 and 48 years respectively.
Thornes Classic Coach Tours have a fine pedigree since originating as ‘Reader Holidays’ with leading vintage transport titles over 10 years ago. Passengers travel to York and Hemingbrough to sample our unique holidays, not only from all corners of the UK but abroad also. Recent years have seen clients from Australia and Canada tailor their vacations to join our annual pilgrimage to the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
If you have not previously sampled one of our holidays why not give it a go? Once you have tried it and sampled, our expertise you will agree it is ‘different’.
