The Great Dorset Steam Fair is widely recognized as the leading event of its type in the country and indeed , in Europe and the world.  Its aim is to give the public an insight into the English way of life when steam was in its heyday in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s.

With probably the largest collection of steam and vintage equipment spread across a mammoth 600 acre site with 15 acres dedicated to trade stands, there's no wonder this is a tremendously
popular event which continues to draw people from all over the world.

Its not just all old time there is something for all the family making this a truly unique event certainly one not to be missed.

With over 12 years experience of operating this holiday, our itinerary is finely tuned and will take the same format as previous years.  Traveling in coaches from our Heritage Fleet we pick-up

en-route from Yorkshire to Bournemouth (see booking form for exact locations).  Comfort and refreshment stops will also be made throughout the day.  Arriving  in Bournemouth at The Roundhouse Hotel and Britannia Bournemouth Hotel at approximately 5.00/5.15pm  with the evening free to settle in and explore the local area.

After a good nights rest we head for the Showground early on Saturday morning for a full days visit.  Staying late into the evening, we return back to the hotel for 10.00 pm. For some, the nightlife of the show is the highlight of their visit.   There is an old time funfair with showman's engines providing light and power for the old roundabouts, swing boats and stage shows whilst 100 merry organs play, this really is a fascinating spectacle.

On Sunday morning we return to the showground, leaving mid-afternoon at 3.00 pm to facilitate a local excursion possibly with a transport theme, details to be finalised closer to the time.

This year to facilitate more single room availbility we will be staying at both The Roundhouse Hotel and The Britannia Bournemouth.  The two hotels are situated close to each other and are both owned by the Britannia Group so we can expect the same usual standards.

Both Hotels are situated close to Bournemouth Central Rail Station and Coach Station and only a short walk from East Cliff Beach and the town’s amenities.  Both have light and spacious public areas with restuarants.  All rooms are en-suite with direct dial telephone, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.
